With the readjustment of energy structure and the attention of environment issue in our country, heavy-duty gas turbine is growing in importance in the area of power generation. The secondary air flow accounts for about 20% of total GT discharge flow, which has so non-negligible effects on the total performance of the heavy-duty GT. It is one of the methods to improve function of secondary air.Air cooling control system is the flow regulation system of secondary loops for improving function of secondary air. In the paper, a simulation study of air cooling control system has been done with the principle of modular modeling. In order to achieving closed-loop control of air cooling control system, the modeling study of GT has been firstly carried on. A common library of GT has been built with the Simscape platform and a GT model has been built. With the steady performance results of V64.3 type heavy-duty GT, a verification of simulation model and the preliminary study of secondary air have been done. In order to study the basic performance of air cooling control system, three kinds of simulation models including electrical actuator, hydraulic actuator, pneumatic actuator and flow control valve have been built and validated. After the work above has been done, using a simplified model of heavy-duty GT, three kinds of air cooling control systems have been built with different actuators and the performance of the systems has been studied. In order to study the basic role of air cooling control system more deeply, a complicated heavy-duty GT model has been built and a varying-duty simulation experiment has been done to analyze the effects of air cooling control system on the performance of GT.
