Ammunition damage assessment is an important support of the solution of the issue that how to use ammunition and an organic part of ammunition operational effectiveness analysis. Basing of traditional valuation theory and combining with emerging visual simulation technology, this paper made a research on visualization simulation technology of large-caliber explosive grenades damage assessment. The finished major work and the results are as follows:(1) Basing of existing theory, this paper made an analysis of the damage characters of large-caliber explosive grenade as well as the assessment details and methods, then it established the requirements of the users and demonstrated the software architecture of the damage assessment and visual simulation system of large-caliber explosive grenade. After that it established the data interface of ammunition lethality, target vulnerability and damage efficiency, then it selected the development language and the development environment of the layers of algorithm, interface, data and presentation after an analysis.(2) After an induction and summary of common explosive grenades’ lethality field calculation, this paper made an analysis of the physical quantities used for the lethality field calculation and the lethality characters of the fragments and shock wave field. This research realized the display of the fragments field by the establishment of 2D information data sets and the mapping of the functions and it realized the display of shock wave field by the cloud save of points and multi-state calls. Thus, it realized the visualization display of explosive grenade’s lethality field.(3) Summarizing the research of target vulnerability equivalent model, this paper took the light armored vehicle for instance and studied the steps of the establishment of the target vulnerability equivalent model. Accordingly, basing of data-driven, it came up with the three-dimensional visualization method of target geometrical equivalent model, damage construction method and the method to connect the component damage law model interface edit input and target vulnerable parts, then it developed the computer-aided build and display tool module of target vulnerability equivalent model.(4) Basing on the architecture of visual simulation system of large-caliber explosive grenade damage assessment and applying the plug-in design ideas, this paper made the system design of visual simulation platform of large-caliber explosive grenade damage assessment and the division of core modules. Then it technically exploited the management of the intersection of ammunition and project and the damage probability compute method based on the algorithm of the convergence of damage tree. After that, it preliminarily formed a visual simulation platform of the large-caliber explosive grenade.
