Vision Design Research Of Smart Rice Cooker Operation Interface For The Elderly

This paper starts from the condition of the elderly using household appliance and researches the severity of the ageing society in our country. Nowadays, the elderly living alone is becoming more and more, which will be a huge number by the year of 2050, especially the elderly from the family pattern “421” and “empty-nest elderly”. As a result, the self-care ability of daily life of the elderly demands more when their children are too busy to look after. At present, our country has already entered an aging society while household appliance that are easy to operate for the elderly are rare in the market. In order to improve the living quality of the elderly, it is important that producers design household appliance that are easy to operate and equipped with smooth design. This paper is mainly studying on the related content of electronic rice cooker operation interface for the elderly. Firstly, it also particularly elaborates the sensation system, cognition characteristics and consumption mentality of the elderly by analyzing the aging phenomenon and the data of the elderly living alone. Based on the sense character and the cognition condition of the elderly, this research is developed by means of referring to detailed materials and home visiting. Meanwhile, this paper also narrates the importance of the household appliance to the elderly and their requirements to the household appliance by studying the development of the household appliance, the concept of human-computer interface and the connection between the elderly and the household appliance. Secondly, the constitute elements of the interface of the household appliance are architectural design, interactive design and visual design, which will be elaborated in two chapters. When narrating the concept, this paper also lists out the architectural design, interactive design and visual design that are appropriate for the elderly. Thirdly, for design practice, this paper takes a kind of popular electronic rice cooker as an example and points out the existing problems of this kind of electronic rice cooker. According to the design standards for the elderly, I optimize the design and here enclosed three concept plans, namely knob plan, button plan and touch plan.
