Digital Interface Design Research Of Smart TV For The Elderly Based On Visual Features

Due to the population aging and the family endowment model,how to provide a more comfortable and safe home care environment for the elderly needs to be solved.Television provides a wealth of entertainment and information in the elderly’s home life.With the rapid development of electronic technology and Internet technology,smart TV,which has more complex functions and operations than traditional TV,has become popular.Currently,the mainstream smart TV digital interface design mainly considers the experience and preference of young people.Because of the large differences in physiology and cognition with young people,the elderly has lots of difficulties in using smart TV.Vision is the main way to obtain interface information.This paper will study the visual characteristics of the elderly from the perspective of physiology and cognition.Through the research and analysis of the design elements of the smart TV digital interface,the design principles and strategies of the intelligent TV digital interface for the elderly are established,so as to design a smart TV digital interface which is more in line with the visual characteristics of the elderly.This paper firstly gives a brief overview of the current status of smart TV digital interface and the use of the elderly,and then studies the interface design from three aspects: structural elements,interactive elements and visual elements.The structural elements include interface layout and navigation.Visual elements include Icon,text,color,and image.Then the visual characteristics of the elderly are summarized from the perspectives of visual physiology and visual cognition.Based on this,we can analyze the influence of visual characteristics in the attention-memory-recognition process.It can help us to clear the direction and ideas for the follow-up research.Secondly,I conduct a qualitative study of user interface visual preferences qualitative.Research methods include parallel prototyping,questionnaires,and user interviews.Target users are in the 55-70 age group.Research content includes interface layout,navigation,interaction,icon,text,color,and image.By summarizing the user’s visual preferences,the influence of the visual characteristics of the elderly on the interface design is analyzed.Then,based on the experimental conclusions,the design principles and design strategies of the intelligent TV digital interface based on visual characteristics are summarized.Finally,this design method is used to optimize four functions commonly used by target users of smart TV: the homepage,the secondary display page of the media resource,the search page and the application center.SUS,which is a usability texting method,will be used to test the design.Based on the research of physiology and cognition theory and the research data,this paper focuses on the mapping relationship between the visual characteristics of the elderly and the design elements of smart TV digital interface,and constructs the digital interface design principles and strategies based on the visual characteristics of the elderly.It effectively improves the usability of the smart TV digital interface for the elderly,which can provide a comfortable and enjoyable viewing experience.It provides theoretical and method support for the design of smart TV digital interface that meets the visual characteristics of the elderly,and provides a new direction and angle for smart TV manufacturers.It also improves the quality of life of the elderly at home and reduces the social burden.
