As the intermediate link of product design and assembly, Assembly process planning is important in the process of the whole product development. At present, digital technology has been promoted in each host airplane plant, but it’s only applied to some links of assembly process planning and the existing problems have not been completely solved in assembly process planning. So the technology of model based definition was used to realize the sharing and seasonable transmission of information and ensure the single source of product data and collaborative design, thus, the development time would be reduced and the comprehensive competitiveness of enterprises would be improved. The specific research contents of this paper are as following:(1) The whole process of assembly process planning of aircraft components model based definition was analyzed. Through the analysis of the whole process, assembly process planning of aircraft components was realized with the technology of model based definition and the support of related hardware and software.(2) Assembly sequence planning was analyzed and implemented. By summarizing the characteristics of the current assembly sequence planning method, this paper focused on the analysis of the method of that combined the component recognition with the method of cut set based DELMIA to complete assembly sequence planning, then the process of the method was illustrated through an example, and the feasibility and efficiency of the method were verified through an example.(3) The method of assembly process detailed planning and simulation verification was analyzed. By summarizing the characteristics of the current method of assembly path planning, the principle and implementation process of the method of disassembly based DELMIA/ASP were emphatically analyzed to complete assembly process planning. At the same time, man-machine engineering simulation of the assembly process was realized and an operational assembly process plan was obtained with the help of the existing analysis tools based on DELMIA man-machine engineering.(4) 3D assembly process specification was generated. Through analyzing the shortcomings of present assembly outline and simulation technology, a feasible scheme of the generation of 3D assembly process specification was proposed and achieved.
