As the key component of ship outfitting work, pipe production planning directly impact the whole ship building scheduling. Pipe family manufacturing method, using the similarity of components of pipe processing, organize the single pipe to the batch production, Which can decrease the cost of production and management and improve the output and the utilization rate of equipment. Ship manufacturing belongs to MTO production mode. The kinds of pipes are various. And the processing is different from the pipe size and shape. Thus pipe lot sizing production planning is more difficult. Therefore, pipe lot sizing production planning and control method was proposed based on the research of double pallets method.First of all, through the analysis of the characteristics of ship pipe and its processing, we designed the pipe production planning process oriented double pallets management. The pipe production planning was divided into three levels, installing pallet planning, manufacturing pallet planning, job planning and controlling. Secondly, installing pallet schedule not only determines the time of delivery, also affect the grouping efficiency of pipe family manufacturing method. So, considering the setup time between two installing pallets, a installing pallet production scheduling model was established. Third, in order to achieve the pipe family manufacturing method, the pipes in manufacture pallet were divided into groups in terms of outer diameter and connectors. To limit the production load differences, a pipe load distribution model was built. Fourth,in order to reduce the processing and handing cost, a pipe lot sizing model was built, suitable for single and multiple workstations production environment. A double loop PFB control mode was built for the material delivery.Finally, taking CD shipyard install pallets as an example, the pipe load distribution model and the pipe lot sizing model are evaluated to prove the validation and practicability of pipe production planning and control method.
