This paper focus on the research of fault diagnosis for switched reluctance motor system. The current research status of fault diagnosis of switched reluctance motor system is briefly introduced in this paper, the particularity of switched reluctance motor and the necessity of fault diagnosis is expounded in the next place. Then, the paper introduces a detailed analysis of the changing trend of electrical quantities after all kinds of fault, gives the process of changes of voltage and phase current when inter-turn winding short-circuit, gives the motor’s excitation and freewheeling circuit when power devices occur short-circuit or open- circuit.This paper takes 12/8 structure of three-phase motor and 8/6 structure of four-phase motor as the research objects, choices the asymmetric half-bridge and public switching power converters, sets up four kinds of normal and fault simulation model of SRD systems through the software of matlab, concludes the different fault diagnosis methods after the analysis of fault current.This paper reconstructs every current phasor through a calculation method of symmetrical current components for SRM, the amplitude ratio of negative sequence and positive sequence is established as a fault feature for the inter-turn winding short-circuit fault. For the fault of power converters, the average of maximum value of wavelet transform coefficients which based on bus current is established as a fault feature, the other fault feature is integrals of every phase current. Finally, the current data of various working conditions is collected through the experimental platform, and the feasibility and veracity of the proposed diagnosis method for the inter-turn winding short-circuit fault and power converter fault of SRM is verified by experiment results.
