Research On Architectural Schemedesign Process Using Case-based Reasoning

The popularity of computer and network technology profoundly changed the working methods of creative professionals. Design is facing Reform Period in theory strategy and technical means. How to integrate the knowledge of past experience in the design, enabling designers to quickly and easily extract the necessary information, and applied to the project design, and then form a relatively complete design within a limited time, to achieve "from there to the new" design worth in-depth study.In this paper, the potential of using CBR in architectural scheme design is developed. The development trend of architectural design process is explored. A corresponding relationship is excavated by comparing this thinking pattern and those previous ones, in order to develop potential applications of CBR technology in architectural design. In this way we can solve the design problems in practice more efficiently and professionally, thus further improving the design efficiency and capability of problem solving, as well as enhancing the design level.Firstly a way of thinking architectural design by case-based reasoning is presented on the basis of summarizing the principles, advantage and key technologies(retrieve, reuse, revise, retain) of case-based reasoning. The similarity of process between CBR and architectural scheme design is explored as a theoretical basis for the application and combination of architectural scheme design in case-based reasoning.Secondly we conduct a survey on the architectural design process. We define the field of investigation, and ascertain the purpose and method of the survey. The data collected includes program design procedure, behavior patterns and other aspects of the design process etc. Through analyzing the feature of cases in CBR and exploring practical architectural design problems, the case-based reasoning architectural design features can be summed up. Furthermore, a case base of architectural scheme design by CBR is constructed by means of analyzing results-oriented design constitutes.According to the survey, the specific application of key CBR technology in architectural design is analyzed, including the acquisition of design case, as well as the application of CBR. The key technologies applicable to the field of architectural design are found and summarized, such as the expression of the design attributes, the establishment of indexes, suitable methods to retrieve, reuse conditions and so on.An observation experiment is finally carried out. The simulation of architectural modeling design process by CBR from one side describes the practical possibility of architectural design with the use of CBR technology. Through the collation of experimental data the CBR-based architectural modeling design correction strategies are investigated and classified. By summarizing technologies of CBR applied in architectural design an framework of architectural scheme design process using CBR is proposed. In a certain sense, expand the selection of architectural scheme design. The framework can guides the design of such programs, thereby reducing the duplication of time and improve the design level.
