With the continuous development of China’s economy, there comes a surge of high-rise buildings in China in recent years. Among them, the height and the complexity of a large part of the high-rise buildings go beyond the prescribed limits of the present Chinese criteria. Thus, a large number of transfinite in height flat or vertical irregular high-rise structures have formed. Because of the great height or the irregular structure of the high-rise building, it is inferior to the general structure in terms of seismic performance. It is quite necessary to carry out the research about the reliability of high-rise structure under the action of earthquake.This paper introduces the general situation of the high-rise structures at home and abroad, expounds the discriminant standard specification to the high-rise structure and gives the control measures and requirements to the high-rise building. The methods of structural analysis under the action of earthquake are also described in this paper, including elastic analysis method and elastic-plastic analysis method.The work of this paper includes the following:Take a high-rise building of Guangzhou as an example, this paper introduces the process of the structure design of this high-rise building and conducts the transfinite discrimination of this project for setting a seismic performance goal to the key component of the high-rise structure.The elastic analysis of the engineering project under small earthquakes is carried out by using SATWE program and GSSAP program, as well as the supplementary calculations of elastic dynamic analysis under small earthquakes. By modifying the method of calculating the parameters of the engineering example, the structure bearing capacity calculation are carried out under medium earthquakes. By using the PMSAP program to carry out the elastic floor stress analysis under medium earthquakes to make sure that the floor can deliver the horizontal force transmission under medium earthquake.Using the PUSH & EPDA procedures to conduct the static elastic-plastic pushover analysis of the engineering example under the action of rare earthquake, and the analysis shows that engineering example can meet the seismic fortification target- "remains stable the major earthquake".Finally, according to the engineering design practice, summarizes some experience on the design, supply reference for engineering design.
