| Due to the low strength of materials itself and farmers’ arbitrary self-building behaviors in rural areas, the overall performance of abode structures is unsatisfactory with poor anti-seismic property. In recent years, earthquake disasters appear frequently.As one of the main structural forms in traditional residence, adobe wall bearing dwellings have suffered from serious damages during earthquake, causing a large number of casualties and property losses. It has significant and practical importance to do some easy, economic and effective reconstructions of anti-seismic reinforcement for the massive dilapidated buildings in rural areas. In addition, the durability of adobe wall bearing dwellings is poor, so there would be cracking and erosion phenomena occurring in various forms during residence, jeopardizing the safety of houses as well as lives.Therefore, how to take reasonable crack restoration technology to increase the durability of adobe wall bearing dwellings is another task of this study. The research part of this paper is mainly as follows:(1)Through the analysis on the root cause of poor anti-seismic performance and on the characteristics of earthquake damage, two solutions for economical and feasible reinforcement are proposed: one is to adopt steel meshes inside and outside to reinforce the bearing wall, and the other is to apply grooves to reinforce the curtain wall. In consideration of the chemical reaction between the northwest loess and water glass, the solution of using water glass to restore the cracks of adobe walls is proposed.(2)The adobe wall bearing dwellings are presented by a model with a reduced scale of 1/2 scale model, along with steel meshes inside and outside to reinforce the(3)bearing wall. And the experimental details are scheduled according to the similarity relation and the seismic waves selected.(4)Shaking table test is conducted after the reinforcing the model of adobe wall bearing dwellings. By analyzing the model’s structural damages, and the changes of dynamic characteristics as well as the response of acceleration and displacement under different seismic intensity, the paper evaluates the effectiveness of its reinforcement measures.The main conclusions are as follows: Viewing from the process of building house model, the restoration and reinforcement solutions employed here in adobe walls are easy and effective, and it is suitable for rural scenario; and through simulated earthquake shaking table test, the adobe wall bearing dwellings adopting steel meshes inside and outside for reinforcement can meet the national standards to resist earthquakes in 8-degree fortification districts according to the requirements of ensuring the dwellings intact under minor earthquakes, repairable under medium ones and no collapses under strong ones. |
