Research On Contact Type Of Hindley Double-enveloping Worm Gear

Torus worm drive is developed on the basis of cylindrical worm drive, because of the worm gear and worm tooth structure are surrounded by double structure, so it forms the more tooth contact at the same time and each tooth surface has two pairs of contact lines. Finally, it highly improves the drive bearing capacity of the torus worm and has been widely used in many fields of overloading transmission. “Hindley” straight profile annulus worm studied in this paper is a form of them.The theory research and application about the straight profile annulus worm drive have a history of nearly a century. With the rapid development of modern design theory and calculation method, the deeper problem in the theory about the torus worm drive needs further verification and improvement, especially the problem about the contact type and change point。In this paper,apply the contact type and change point concept of the double enveloping worm gear to the straight profile annulus drive, analyzing the transformation line of contact type and the solving method. On the basis of the meshing theory, finding a rapid method for solving contact line, obtaining the complete theoretical contact line and its classification, realizing the visualization of the worm gear,worm gear tooth surface structure and contact line, and also exploring the influence of modification parameters on the distributing rule of tooth contact line.Through studying the contact line pattern of the straight profile annulus worm pair,analyzing the contact line and related parameters, and also the relationship between change point and tooth surfaces, exploring the methods of solving the transformation point, and also get the contact line type and distribution of contact line about the“Original” straight profile annulus worm, so as to lay a solid theoretical foundation for the contact wire type analysis about “Fix” type of the straight profile annulus worm,provide a reliable reference basis. To some extent, it has an important meaning for the evolution laws of contact type, transformation point of assembly process, guide the worm pair assembly process and redesign parameter correction method and standard.
