In the HVAC industry, applying the computer technology to dynamically analyze building energy consumption is meaningful for both scientific research and engineering design. So far, “Typical Meteorological Year” data,which under the meaning of average,has been applied to the analysis of energy consumption of all-year hourly meteorological. But because of the abnormal atmospheric circulation and the influence of factors such as elnino and la Nina, about 60% of the years differ with meteorological parameters of typical meteorological years, the difference reaches 20 or even 50%. what’s more, continued global warming is making extreme weather events become more frequent. So it is necessary to work out a set of meteorological data which can be used for energy consumption simulation in the extreme weather conditions.Firstly, several existing kinds of “Typical Meteorological Year” data are analyzed and compared, including the TRY, WYCE, TMY and the standard year of our country, etc. The contents of comparison include formation, meteorological parameters selection and weight distribution, etc. Then the paper focuses on the comparison between four kinds of “Typical Meteorological Year” data and “The Single Parameter Extreme Meteorological Year”, which comes from the data set of the Chinese building thermal environment. Comparison results show that it is significantly different between the typical weather condition and extreme weather condition. Also, “The Single Parameter Extreme Meteorological Year” offered by the data set cannot meet the need of the energy consumption simulation and is just for reference.Secondly, this paper introduces the method of Sandia and the way to constitute our standard year, then through taking example of the two methods, “Extreme Meteorological Year” is made for Chongqing, Harbin, Kunming and Shanghai. At the same time, the paper analyzes influence of the parameter weight on the selection of extreme month. Results show that the original weight has better representation, which can satisfy the using demand. Different degrees of simplification of representative meteorological parameters has been referred in this paper, considering the changes of the selection of the “extreme month”. Comparison of “Extreme Meteorological Year” and CSWD shows that the temperature and radiation in the “Extreme Meteorological Year” reflect the extreme sexual characteristics in a better way.In order to study the building energy consumption in extreme weather conditions, this paper selects “Extreme Meteorological Year” and CSWD as energy consumption simulation files, it uses the energy consumption simulation software—Design Builder V4.2 to simulate the annul air-condition load and air-conditioning energy consumption in one office building and refinement processing workshop. The simulation results show that firstly, the maximum load of air conditioning and heating in the condition of “Extreme Meteorological Year” increases in different degrees. Secondly, energy consumption in the condition of “Extreme Meteorological Year” increased significantly. Thirdly, according to the selection mode of existing air conditioning units, they can not meet the using requirements in extreme conditions.
