With the acceleration of urban development, increasing demand for power supply, power grid construction andtransformation tasks become more complex, to ensure that the construction investment of distribution network in "edge", reduce duplication of construction and renovation to the maximum extent, give play to the greatest benefitof investment, a reasonable allocation of the power level is crucial. The planning and construction of 20 k Vdistribution network has been put on the agenda, parts of our country have been using 20 k V voltage power supply, many domestic scholars have done a lot of research, and to promote the cities high load density urban distribution voltage upgrade to 20 k V. China’s first use of 20 k V voltage level of the Suzhou Industrial Park, the parkin 1996 May and put into operation the first 110/20 k V substation, the substation has been completed 2 220 k V, 10 110 k V transformer substations for 20 k V power supply. In recent years, many domestic big cities and economically developed areas, such as Jiangsu, Shanghai and so on are active in promoting the work of medium voltage distribution voltage level. China Southern Power Grid in Zhuhai Hengqin new area to carry out the construction ofpower grid in 20 k V.Indicates that a large number of research and practice at home and abroad, the 20 k V voltage level is to improve the power supply capacity, distribution network to satisfy the load need and growth need efficient and economical means. In this paper, in order to enhance the power supply capacity of medium voltage distribution network,reliability, technical content and reduce the loss of line as the goal, according to the load characteristics of the Hengqin new area, are studied to improve the voltage level, from the economic feasibility, technical feasibility andfeasibility of equipment three aspects of using 220 k V/20 k V voltage power supply, in-depth analysis of the existingresearch feasibility 10 k V distribution network boost to 20 k V distribution network, and further demonstrates whether to have the transformation conditions, and put forward the superiority, reform measures. This paper has a goodguiding significance and engineering application value for the evaluation of the promotion of 20 k V urban distribution network and the application scope of the simplified 110 k V level.
