With the advances in technology, the equipment with higher speed and better concealment is far more essential in the modern warfare. Therefore, it is imperative to improve the capability of offshore reconnaissance and war power of our army. The amphibious speedboat with diving function shows great significance in military and civilian studying, which holds the abilities to being fast and invisible on the water, moving agilely on the land, and avoiding the enemies by diving into the water. The main purpose of this paper is to study the feasibility of the design of the amphibious speedboat, offer an overall design proposal and deeply explore two key technologies involved.This paper sums up the key technologies about the design of the amphibious speedboat by analyzing different countries’ researches on amphibious vehicles, such as the technology of retractable suspension system, the taxiing technology of the hull, the technology of water jet propulsion and so on. The general design of the amphibious speedboat is conducted by referring to the existing mature technical parameters and design experience of amphibians. This paper illustrates how to select the parameters of each part in the process of designing and the reason to choose it. Moreover, sketch of the layout is proceeded for the selected module.After the general design, the paper focused on studying two of the key technologies involved, they are the retractable suspension system and the planing hull. Both of them are used to ensure the high speed characteristic of amphibious speedboat.First of all, the paper gives a brief analysis about the research status of retractable suspension system. By referring to some mature design conception, a new plan of the retractable suspension system is proposed which is suitable for the subject. The new plan gives a detailed description of the mechanical structure, the hydraulic system, positioning of connectors related, interference, design considerations and so on. Also, it adds the function that the suspension system can not be retracted when working on the land. After that, this article establishes the simplified model with CATIA. Changing to the DMU module, the paper conducts a kinematical simulation, determines the relevant technical parameters, and also analyses the interference and the collision of the retractable suspension system.Then a detailed analysis about the sailing resistance of the hull, including the components and characteristics of the resistance and characteristics of the navigation state, is given in the article. Combined with the results of the analysis, the scheme which is suitable for the hull is determined. Also, the paper makes a conclusion about the characteristics of hydroglider and provides the key points that needed to be considered in the process of hull developing.Finally, to improve the the inevitable imperfection in the hull located around the front and rear axles caused by the retractable suspension system, the thesis puts forward a solution, which can improve the streamline of the hull and the speed of amphibious speedboat.
