Study On Riverside Greenway Planning And Design

With the acceleration of urbanization, the urban ecological environment has been increasingly seriously damaged. Greenways, as an important place to improve the living environment, need a rational planning and design in urban construction, so that it cannot only meet people’s various needs of recreation, leisure, sports and communication, etc., but efficiently connect the natural areas, then prevent habitat loss, biological populations simplification to ultimately achieve harmony between human and nature. Greenways include riverfront greenways, recreational greenways, ecological greenways, landscape or historic greenway, comprehensive greenway network. Among them, the city’s riverfront greenway built relying on urban rivers, to become the pivot which connect parks, shelters, residential areas and greenway, is the most common one of many types of the greenway. It is one of the greenways with the highest Utilization rate, abundant species, and best landscape benefit. However, China Riverfront Green Road construction, waterfront development and river ecosystem are enlightened late, decision-making and practice of waterfront space has some limitations. Therefore, how to improve the ecological environment of waterfront through rational planning and design, to create a riverfront greenway with continuity, integrity and good feelings of use is the key content of this paper.This paper sorts the development process of riverfront greenway at home and abroad, through literature research, field surveys and inductive analysis, to define the research scope of riverfront greenway, refine riverfront greenway components and look for planning and design methods which adapt to Chinese riverfront greenway, according to the analysis of related disciplines theory. This paper is divided into three parts including theoretical research, case study and design update. First, it analyzed and summarized the basic institution and elements of riverfront greenway through interpretation of its development process and related concepts. Secondly, by comparing three representative foreign cases with two typical domestic cases, it analyze the difference between domestic and foreign riverfront greenway in theoretical foundation, preparation, structure and function, etc., then made universal applicability planning and design principles, process planning and design methods and specific content (including riverfront greenways functional structure, the confirm of spatial extent, land control, disaster prevention and mitigation, transportation systems, ecological restoration, etc.). Finally, taking Zigong Fuxi riverfront greenway as target practice, this paper analyzed previous studies based on theory and practical experience, on the basis of field reconnaissance and data analysis, to propose the existence of the defects and shortcomings of their current situation, and to use this article proposed riverfront greenway planning and design principles, methods and specific process design techniques to update the design, and strive to effectively improve the status issue, in order to verify the research results of scientific rationality.We hope the results of this research can provide a reference to Chinese urban riverfront greenway construction, thus to avoid riverfront greenway planning Misunderstanding in the past. Hope there are more scholars joining into the urban riverfront greenway research in the subsequent course of the study, to give more supplement and amend about the principles, processes and methodologies body of this study, so that make contribution to Chinese urban riverfront greenway construction.
