Quality is the essence of the enterprise, the enterprise’s survival and development must be guaranteed with first-class product quality. With the development of market economy, the product quality has become the core of competition in the market. To improve the product quality steadily, it is necessary to actively promote and strengthen the quality management of the enterprise, establish a corresponding quality management system. By making the necessary supervision over the quality of the production process and management, constantly finding and solving the problems existing in the quality management, timely summarizing results, the quality management and standardization can be promoted. As the core of total quality management, statistical technology is the basic tools and effective methods to conduct quality control, quality analysis and quality improvement. It plays an important role in quality management.The relations between statistical technology and quality management are researched and analyzed. Combined with the actual quality management situation of railway digital signal cable production process in our company, the production technology and the key quality control points are analyzed deeply, and two statistical techniques, i. e. orthogonal experimental design and control chart, are used to control the quality of the insulation wire core extrusion process. Firstly, the influence factors of insulation wire core properties are analyzed by using the orthogonal experimental design. The key factors and the optimal production conditions are obtained. The above results are verified by experiment. Secondly, average-range control charts are drawn, and process capability is analyzed. By changing the traditional post-test mode into the production process monitoring, the goal of early warning can be attained, and the production of waste can be reduced. The above work lays a solid foundation for the further promotion and application of statistical technology in the company.
