Since the late 90 s of last century, Laser Suppress Sighting Device was applied to the Type 99 Main Battle Tank, and once it has improved the level of our army mechanized armored. It combines light, machine and electronic to a system, thus both the industrial processes and operating mechanism are very complex. Searching for the reason and locating to the specific fault were both rely on maintenance personnel’s analysis after the failure happened, therefor, the rapidity and accuracy was limited to the experience level of the maintenance personnel. So, a real- time Fault Diagnosis Expert System is needed to detect the fault location and analyze causes of the failure quickly and accurately, so as to provide reference for the maintenance personnel. For this reason, this paper studies the design and implementation of fault diagnosis expert system for the Laser Suppress Sighting Device.The main contents can be described as these follows:Firstly, the knowledge acquisition of fault diagnosis expert system for the Laser Suppress Sighting Device has been studied. One method of which combined the Improved DMI attribute reduction algorithm with the Fault Tree was used to solve the difficult problem in the knowledge acquisition that the fault diagnosis expert system has faced. The Improved DMI attribute reduction was used to obtain knowledge which corresponding to the top event of fault tree, so that the specific diagnosis was chosen. The fault tree and its analysis method was used to find out the minimum cut sets, that was to say, the specific cause of the problem has been confirmed.Secondly, the method of establishing knowledge base of fault diagnosis expert system for the Laser Suppress Sighting Device has been studied. Production knowledge representation method was used to represent the knowledge of the fault diagnosis expert system; Access 2000 database was used to realize knowledge base’s establishment and storage of the Laser Suppress Sighting Device, and the MFC in Visual C++ 6.0 was used to realize the management and maintenance of the knowledge base.Thirdly, the reasoning machine of fault diagnosis expert system for the Laser Suppress Sighting Device has been studied. By comparing with different reasoning control strategy of the fault diagnosis expert system, this paper uses Improved Forward Reasoning algorithm to design the reasoning machine of fault diagnosis expert system for the Laser SuppressSighting Device, and improved the reasoning efficiency of the reasoning machine.Finally, the way of software development of fault diagnosis expert system for the Laser Suppress Sighting Device has been studied. According to the basic structure of the fault diagnosis expert system, the designation style of modulation of fault diagnosis expert system for the Laser Suppress Sighting Device was used. The fault diagnosis expert system software for Laser Suppress Sighting Device has been developed by using Visual C++ 6.0programming software and Access 2000 database, and each function module was realized.
