In recent years,The talilings dam failures frequently lead to accidents,Which makes great damage to national property and people’s lives,as well as serious threat to its surroundings safety.The paper regards a Tailings Dam as the object of study,using on-site research,collecting the firsthand basic data,measuring soil characters,Analyzing the statistical distribution of soil mechanical parameters.On this basis,Analyzed the present situation of the tailings reservoir,seepage and stability of the Pre-dam before elevation and expansion.Based on the design of elevated and expanded,the results of the monitoring system,Further researched seepage and stability of the Pre-dam after elevation and expansion.These provided reasonably scientific basis which contribute to safe service of the talings dam and security dispatching.The research contents are as follows:(1)Pre-dam before and after elevation and expansion was analyzed by two dimensional seepage respectively.The same to the post tailing stacked dam.Seepage characteristics in dam in normal operation and flood operation are illustrated by the total head,pore water pressure,seepage face.(2)The design on elevation and expansion of the tailings reservoir and the scene monitoring,include the expansion program,capacity of reservoir and its grade,flood drainage program,elevation program,leak stopping,the layout of the monitoring system and results,etc.(3)Adopting the saturation line in the seepage analysis,basing on limit equilibrium method and the strength reduction FEM,stability analysis for Pre-dam after elevation and expansion is carried out,the same to the post tailing stacked dam.using MIDAS/GTS software to obtain safety factor.Thus,the safety coefficient and the force deformation characteristics of the dam was obtained,and three dimensional stress field and displacement field in tailing dam was showed.
