Steel ball is as the most key mechanical transmission parts in rolling bearing and it is an important technology to judge the surface quality of steel ball before using steel ball. But it is still mainly rely on human eye detection to judge steel ball at present, and not only the accuracy is low, efficiency is slow of this traditional testing way, but also it is difficult to meet the demand for high precision steel ball in the market. Therefore, developing a highly efficient steel ball surface defection automatic detection device has became the problem which is in urgent need of solving. In this paper, the steel ball surface defect detection device is researched, the structural design of the whole machine and parametric design of the key parts are carried out based on the theoretical analysis, the rationality of device is verified by using the virtual simulation technology and experiment method.First of all, the basic requirement of the whole machine structure design is proposed according to the steel ball detection requirements, the overall design scheme is build, an overall design framework is given; the mathematical model of steel ball surface development is established to ensure the development of all steel ball surface; analyzing and calculating the position and speed of unwinding wheel, driving wheel as well as return roller which are the key components refer to the unwinding process, the relative position relationship and important parameters of core parts are determined; the physical model of some institutions are established, which provides the theoretical foundation and reliable basis for the design and testing of the whole machine.Secondly, through carrying on the parametric analysis of the whole detection device, the series steel ball surface defect detection is realized, which improves the applicability of the steel ball detection device; the parameter design model of key parts in the device are established and the key parts library is established, the quick call of key parts according to the steel ball size is realized in the virtual assembly process based on Solidworks software environment.Finally, the build of steel ball detection device virtual prototype is finished, though the trajectory tracking for the mark point on the steel ball surface to judge if it can be fully expanded; analyzing the influence of different compaction force and the bridge angle to the work condition of the detection device by using ADAMS software simulation, and the reasonable compaction force and bridging angle are obtained; the movement simulation for the virtual device is done, and the physical testing bench of unwinding organization is set up to validate the structure and parameters of the whole institution.In this paper, a kind of steel ball surface defect detection device is put forward, the series detection of steel ball is realized, it provides a reliable basis for the prototype manufacture and development of steel ball detection device.
