The rapid development of economic integration and trade globalization drive the wide circulation of goods from all over the world, more and more ships are joining into the ranks of ocean transportation, the development speed of ship toward large-scale, specialization and intelligent direction is more and more fast, so the ship not only need to have a better transport capacity, and at the same time, the crews are also required to have more advanced theoretical knowledge and more skilled hands-on skills.But the existing training modes and the traditional marine engineering simulators have been unable to meet this demand, the process of crew training is limited by the actual conditions and can not teach to the students about the new equipment and new management techniques in timely, and the students’ knowledge update speed is far behind the real ship needs. So, the improvements of the traditional marine engineering simulator is crucial. And the application of virtual reality technology is the best way to improve the traditional marine engineering simulator, and will be the development trend of the new generation simulator.This topic is based on the VLCC full-mission simulator designed by Dalian Maritime University, and make the fuel oil purifying system on the ship as the example to conduct an attempt about the feasibility to develop a single-mission simulator for a specific device.The innovation of this topic is to divide the single-task marine engineering simulator into two parts. The first part is based on the fuel oil purifying system of real ship to establish the independent two-dimensional simulation system, including the whole pipeline connections of fuel oil purifying system and the single operation interface of each fuel oil separator, and at the same time, the system can also add the settings of the faults and parameters changed and so on. The second part is to establish the virtual reality system of fuel oil purifying system, according to the real ship equipment to establish the realistic three-dimensional model of fuel oil purifying system, and use Unity3D as the development tool for the establish of virtual scene and the writing of interactive code, make the three-dimensional model can be carried out with control operation in accordance with the real equipment, at the same time the system schematic diagram is also imported into the virtual scene and add the two-dimensional controls to achieve the synchronous operation control between two-dimensional controls and three-dimensional models. Thus, on the basis of complete the operation practice for the first part and then to continue the practice of the second part, not only will deepen to the operation of the fuel oil purifying system, but also to lay the foundation for the practice of full-mission marine engineering simulator, at the same time can also conducive more targeted operation practice over and over again.This topic has a certain practical and innovation in the research and design, and has a certain guidance and reference for the application of virtual reality technology on the ship.
