With the development of global economy, more and more nickels are needed.Nickel is more and more used in civil and military fields because of its strong stability, good ductility and stable chemical properties. But in the process of carrying nickel, because of its easy liquefaction, it is easy to cause the risk of overturning. So the study of the stability of bulk carrier carrying nickel is crucial to the future of nickel transport.Based on the description of the nickel’s characteristics, causes of liquefaction, ship stability in waves and level of wind resistance calculation, select 5 million ton Handy size bulk carrier as the research object, researching the stability in the process of carrying nickel, drawing the corresponding conclusions.First, nickel ore in the post liquefaction will form a layer of water mud on the surface, the "water" is one tenth of the goods, the influence on the stability of similar to the free surface, and lower cargo will move with the ship heeling and formed by the horizontal tilting moment, so as to reducing the stability. Second, ships in the rough sea voyage, wave in a boat cabin liquefied after loss of stability, ship will capsize; trough in the mid ship cabin liquefied after loss of stability ship capsized. Last, crest in the mid ship, steady arm is less than zero, do not have the ability to wind resistance; trough in the mid ship, NO.1 cabin completely liquefied,GM is less than zero, initial angle of heel is less than 20°, dynamic stability is less than zero,do not have stability to wind resistance.Article from theory to actual calculated results must for bulk cargo ship carrying the stability of nickel has certain guiding significance and provide a theoretical reference for nickel after liquefaction level of wind resistance.
