Voltage quality is one of the most important targets of power quality in power systems. Reactive power balance is an important condition to ensure the voltage quality. It is the elementary object of electrical power system to supply high quality electric energy. Voltage and power factor represent the operating condition of a power system. The scale of power system is becoming larger and larger and the structure and operating management is becoming more and more complex with the rapid development of power system. The traditional accommodation method of voltage and reactive can not meet the need of the development of power system. Large-scale intermittent energy, like wind power, is integrated into power grid, whose stochastic fluctuation and unpredictability brings great challenge for the voltage stability of power system. Automatic voltage control(AVC) has become the necessary means to improve power quality, reduce the power loss, relieve labour strength of operator. It has important practical significance to introduce AVC system to power system in Dezhou region.Based on domestic power grid operation planning, the significance of research for AVC system, the international and domestic study situation of AVC system is investigated, which provides guide information for the application of AVC system in Dezhou region. The relation of reactive to voltage fluctuation and adjustment is illustrated and the adjustment method and reactive power optimization model are also demonstrated. The AVC system has been integrated into electric network monitoring system(OPEN300). The function of master station and substation of AVC system are analyzed and the objectives and its priority are determined. The test control setup, interlock and remote joint control of AVC system are represented in this thesis. The contrast analysis of AVC closed loop control and manual operation for Miaozhuan station, Beijiao station and Beiyuan station from the number of equipment action and voltage eligibility rate are given, too. The effectiveness of AVC system is testified and the failure of adjustment is analyzed, and the future AVC development of Dezhou power grid is determined.
