In present,the process of Chinese traditional villages’ protection and development planning exit many a time issues of overprotection out of touch with life and oversizing lose the essence of the original style. This article which rely on the theory of image and take the example for the historic and cultural village named Xiong yasuo, intends to analyze the image of traditional village how to construct a more accurate image of the village through some research techniques of dig historical materials and field research interviews and spatial morphology analysis for the people who living and walking in the village. Propose appropriate strategies for the post-traditional villages’ protection and development planning,so that the traditional village which changing and advancing in time and space can meet the needs of residents’ growing material and culture,which fully preserving the essence of the image of the traditional village.Firstly, based on the current situation of social and politics, economic and cultural, through the protection of domestic and international traditional villages and the applied research of image theory, summed up traditional villages be badly in need of protective present situation, and the corresponding innovative protection ideas; Based on context deeply,and the existing the typical case of Village named Xiong yasuo that present situation is fine, through field survey,analysis, identifying its strong imagery, sense of belonging; Through Kevin Lynch’s imagery theory to interpret the image elements of traditional village, exploring the feasibility of the theory of "image theory" that apply to traditional villages, realizing the local application of “image theory”;In order to establish a foundation for the further explanation of Xiong yasuo.Secondly, based on the image theory interpret the traditional village of Xiong yasuo, divided all elements of Xiong yasuo into five categories, according to their cultural heritage, Status quo of remains, explore how each element is to create a village image, and create what kind of village image, for the next step of the protection and development of villages providing the important elements of the basic data.Finally, to control the protection and development of Xiong yasuo on the whole, put forward to the ideas and principle of protection and development, then to the village within the five elements respectively put forward to a comprehensive protection and development strategy. Both achieve the development of the village and keep up with the times, through the protection of the image data of the village to achieve the pretection of the village image, thereby achieving the live growth of the village.
