This research provide a new train of conservation of traditional villages and towns.that is designated "frontstage" and "backstage" in traditional villages’and towns’reconstruction and development, when transformation is complete,that is in order to improve residents living environment and the commercial development is ongoing,some areas are zoned to "frontstage",do the high strength commercial development,other areas are zoned to "backstage",do the low strength commercial development,in order to make the "experience type"and "gazing type" tourism model.The Tourism development mode of partition of "static" and "dynamic" can meet the needs of different levels of tourists,also can enrich the tourism experience of tourists and also can save the traditional culture and life atmosphere of traditional villages and towns in the backstage.In this research,"frontstage-backstage" is combined with the traditional villages conservation practice,puts forward "frontstage-backstage" mode of the traditional villages protection.in order to seek solutions of unison of protect/development in the way of the perspective of multi-villages and towns combined,instead of single village’s two difficult proposition of protect/developed.This research first probe the origin and development of the "frontstage-backstage" theory from the theory level, in order to clearing theory,complete the conversion from theory to model.Then probe realization models of the "frontstage-backstage" from the practical level that contains two aspect of economy forms and space forms.Then combined with the theory of architecture planning, to analyze the value of each part of the "frontstage-backstage"mode, deduct value matrix of "frontstage-backstage",obtains the principles and theme should obey in the planning and design.Thereafter the The "frontstage-backstage"mode based on the point of the "space" concept of architecture,divide "frontstage-backstage" into "experience space","gazing space","the original space",each of its connotation and the corresponding planning and design method of different.Finally, combined with the specific project planning and Design -- Yunnan Hexi Town in Tonghai County and the Xing Meng Xiang protection planning, taking Hexi Town as the frontstage, the Xing MengXiang as the backstage,to specify the way of the "frontstage-backstage" mode.
