Shipping plays a positive role in promoting for China’s economic development for a long time. Recent years, many shipping accidents caused by the ship overload in channel, which bringing threats to ships and channels. Existing variety of draft detection methods at home and abroad have their own shortcomings, unable to meet the needs of waterway safety testing. So side scan type ship draft detection system is designed in this article. Below is the research work done in this paper.Waterway waters of the sound field propagation model is established. Sound waves cause from effect of spread and the multiplicity of the impact on the application of the system are analyzed. Sonar technology and sound detection technology is stated.In the structure of side scan type ship draft detection system design, the system is modular design, and each module of the structure and working methods is introduced in detail. In system design method, the short pulse modulation of time-sharing multiplexing way was adopted in signal transmitting terminal, in order to cooperate with the receiver signal demodulation, multiplicity of sound wave propagation effect influence on draught measurement was weakened. In the process of the system, in order to eliminate the water suspended matter and bubbles produced by the interference of random noise of the effective signal, the average filtering method in the introduction of image processing technology is introduced and modified, end up with a median filter method based on ultrasonic sensor data. According to the relationship between the multi-channel sensor signals, the methods for preparation of multiplex-mark, calculate the draft survey value. In order to obtain more accurate measurement results, amplitude subdivision method is introduced, finally, the measuring precision of the system are effectively improved.Through laboratory and field different experimental environment, such as a large number of experiments show that the technical approach of the system is feasible, draught measurement precision meet the expected requirement, for the later system further improve and enhance to lay a solid foundation.
