Icebreaker is a kind of polar vessel used to break ice on the sea. Changes of ice condition will lead to a rapid change of load power. Traditional diesel powered icebreaker has difficult in following load changes correctly and timely. Meanwhile, it will bring serious environment pollution.In this thesis, we mainly study an optimal allocation strategy that is used on hybrid powered icebreaker in which LNG-diesel blend engine and battery-super capacitor combined energy storage system are used. LNG with a higher heat and cheaper price was added in the engine part. Different power-output curves and the purpose of oil-saving have been achieved by changing fuel ratio in engine part.The energy storage part is used to provide the instantaneous power need of the load. When the icebreaker starts to brake, the energy storage part will store extra energy. Secondary use of energy was achieved by this way.Introduced below are the main study contents of this paper:Firstly, the engine part is divided into five working modes. By analysis the loading/unloading rate of different fuel in different load conditions, and set working ranges of engine and initial value, we can get different power curves. Fuel cost and cost-saving in one drive cycle can be calculated by using algorithm. Secondly, the energy storage part is divided into two ways:battery only and battery-super capacitor combined mode. Firstly, select energy-storage equipment according to the result. Thirdly, simple economic analysis of the hybrid icebreaking ship has been carried on, calculate the recovery years of the ice-breaking ship under different composition ways. The optimal allocation strategy of the hybrid breaker is the strategy when the recovery period is the minimum value. Finally, Marine micro-grid, power plant, load and energy storage part modeling and simulation in MATLAB/Simulink. Through observing the simulation waveforms, analysis the stability influence after add energy-storage system.
