The foundation of telecommunication tower is an important part of that tower. It should bear the whole external load from the upper structure, so it is necessary to ensure the stability of entire structure. Due to the structural property of telecommunication tower, the main failure form is structure overturn by horizontal pressure. For telecommunication tower, the overturn-resistant ability depends on the design of overturn-resistant capability of its foundation. The recent optimization analysis of overturn-resistant ability of telecommunication tower foundation needs to develop. In some situation, if the foundation’s design cannot satisfy the overturn-resistant requirement, it will cause serious disaster(such as overturn or fall in). Although the tower could satisfy the structural requirements, without optimization, it may also create the waste of consumptive material and money. Therefore, the paper will study the telecommunication towers overturn-resistant abilities of different foundation form.The paper achieves following conclusions:(1) It summed up and analyzed the current domestic main form and design of telecommunication tower(2) It analyzed and discussed the load value and combination of telecommunication tower structure.(3) It attentively discussed the application scope, bearing capacity, overturn-resistant ability of pile foundation, permafrost foundation and independent foundation. Moreover, it calculated and checked the numerical examples.(4) Compared and analyzed overturn-resistant abilities of different foundation forms, it presented form choice and optimization methods of such three different foundation forms.The paper regarded the telecommunication tower overturn-resistant ability as control condition and cost of foundation as reference point. It presented the best optimization way in different working conditions. Meanwhile, it summarized impact effects of overturn-resistant abilities in different foundation form, size and burial depth. The paper provided the practical reference for the design of telecommunication tower foundation.
