With the development of the modern society, we step onto the era of the knowledge and economy. The higher education plays a great role in the development of technology and social progress, also the construction of university campus obtains the rapid developmentunder under the promoting of economy, culture, and policy guidance. Since the 20th century, the chinese designers are always trying to explore their own discourse system, strive to refine our country’s language of the architecture, planning, landscape design and life in spirit. This paper bases on introducing the ideas of schema language to offer a new design approach and theoretical support for the construction of campus landscape.This paper is divided into two parts:Theoretical research and design practice. On the basis of explaining the research’s background, purpose, significance and methods, this part further expounds and analyzes the concept of the landscape, schema language and landscape schema, defines the expression of the planning, design and the national characteristics in campus landscape. Also, this part selects five different domestic and foreign cases which on the planning, design of the campus landscape and the inheritance of the traditional culture to summerize research that on the schema language, the planning and design of the campus landscape, which offerrs the inspiration and guidance for design practice.The second part contains the fourth and fifth chapters. On the basis of the first part, this part firstly refines the research, which based on chinese characteristics of schema language. Then this part adds the research achievement of the campus landscape planning and design the new campus of central university for nationalities campus into the fourth chapter in order to in the macro, meso and micro three levels to implement the schema language translation of landscape. Finally the sixth chapter summarizes the research achievements and the deficiencies of this article, and provides more ideas and possible for further study about campus landscape planning and design based on pattern language.
