Recent years, the urban transit is becoming more and more popular as a rapid and comfortable mode of transportation. But the noise and vibration of the vehicles have become to a severe challenge. Because of the advantages of resilient wheels including reducing the noise and force between wheel and rail, resilient wheels are used extensively in Low-floor light railway vehicle/urban vehicle/inter-city train oversea.According to the description of the development background and construction classification of resilient wheels. And the present development situation of the resilient wheels is given. Taken the Low-floor light rail vehicles as example, the development and application of resilient wheels oversea are introduced, and the application prospect and development in future of resilient wheels are provided. The reverse stiffness between left and right wheels and the deflection stiffness between axle and wheel are not considered in building the traditional wheel model, so in this paper the wheel and rail decoupling mothed is used to build the resilient wheel model in SIMPACK dynamic simulation software. And the motion differential equation of single wheelset system composite model is provided.The key research of the resilient wheel dynamic characteristics is to choose the stiffness and damping of rubber elastic element. After using the SIMPACK software to make the composite resilient wheel model simulation, the dynamic performance of optimized stiffness and damping elements is given in different parameters comparing analysis. The ideal dynamic performance can be achieved when the lateral and longitudinal stiffness are between 0.75~1; the reverse and deflection stiffness are barely influenced the dynamic performance. After using the optimized parameters to make the composite model simulation research, the comparison of running stability/stationarity/curving performance among composite model/traditional model/rigid wheel model are described. And the adaptation of 3 different models is provided. Result shows that resilient wheel has more advantages than rigid wheel; based on the particularity of composite model building, the dynamic performance advantage is not obvious compared to traditional model.In this paper the relation of longitudinal vibration acceleration/rail input motivation/spring elastic element/primary suspension/hub-wheel weight is provided by using the resilient wheel composite model analysis. The result shows that the influence parameters are primary suspension stiffness and wheel-axle weight when the longitudinal resonance of wheels happened. After analyzing the result the formula of wheel longitudinal resonance occurrence frequency and occurrence speed. And the research of rail irregularity/friction coefficient/different treads influence to longitudinal vibration is provided. The result shows that the vertical irregularity is the main factor to longitudinal vibration; and the bigger the friction coefficient is, the worse longitudinal vibration will be; the different treads have influence to longitudinal vibration, but it barely influences the resonance occurrence speed.
