Ancient Jin culture originated in between the early Paleolithic period and the early Western Zhou Dynasty. The culture came into being in the late Zhou Dynasty, and thrived in the 500-year Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, and continued its development since the Qin and Han Dynasties. All these brings brilliant trait to the modern civilization. Ancient Jin culture is inclusive, advancing with the times with the spirit of simple honesty, reform and innovation. Ancient Jin culture is rooted locally and bears different characteristics in the history of the development. As an important part of the Chinese civilization, its consistent history and development has a profound impact on other civilizations. Taking in essence of other cultures, it reflects a complete 5000-year history of the Chinese nation development. China is a big country both in history and culture. It is important to express the spirit of the Chinese culture in landscape planning.The research object in this paper is Fenhe Park in Taiyuan, Jin Province. Fenhe River is the largest river within the Province. Not only does the newly-built Fenhe River scenic area provide local people with an ecological environment, but it also improve the people’s taste of life. Ancient Jin cultural spirit with merits is worth carrying forward. Taiyuan Fenhe River Park, to some extent, is a combination of historical culture and modern landscape, endowed with the spirit of the times and a natural ecological cultural theme.The paper focuses on the research object Ancient Jin culture, and takes landscape planning and designing of Taiyuan Fenhe River Park for example to give us a real insight into its history, building profile analysis, and artistic achievements. It also combines the refinement of the artistic spirit and modeling language with the modern gardening practices. Based on the relevant domestic cases, it is recommended that we study the techniques of designing and apply them to the landscape planning and designing of Fenhe River Park. The following are the factors involved in the paper: the preliminary investigation and the analysis of Taiyuan Fenhe River Park, designing outline, overall layout, functional zoning, intersection designing, decoration planning, landscape planting arrangement.
