The Research Of Henan Traditional Dwellings’ Feature From Geography Of Color View

My thesis focus on “the Improvement and application demonstration of traditional rural housing construction technology " which is part of the " Twelfth Five-Year " National Sci-tech Support Plan "(2015BAL03B03).Chinese traditional dwellings has gone through the long and fruitful period of agrarian age, which is not only historically and culturally, but also practically and artistically valuable. Today, it would be a resourceful reference for raw data, experience, technology, practices and sum of rules, considering creating and maintaining a new national features and native architectural style, achieving harmony with nature, providing the general public affordable housing.Nowadays, the residential research has entered the era of interdisciplinary collaboration. Researchers actively refer to theories and methods from other disciplines and expand the breadth and depth of residential research. This article introduces the theory of Geography of Color and it’s research methods. Through the perspective of Geography of Color, the article has a deep and thorough study of Henan traditional dwellings, hoping to present a thorough, systematical and objective color research method of collection, reorganization and analysis.The paper has five chapters. Chapter 1 is the introduction, including the research background, purpose and significance, research status, research subjects and methods, and illustrations for technical framework. Chapter 2 introduces Geography of Color’s theories, concepts and practices,and illustrates the method of it. Chapter 3 is the core of this article. In this chapter, I use specific example as illustration, analyzing the colors of the main branches of Henan traditional dwellings, including the loess terrace vernacular in western region, the shallow mountainous residential areas in the middle, the Shi Ban Yan dwellings in Taihang Mountain region, the courtyard houses in Eastern region and the mountain dwellings in southern region. My research involvesthe study of different levels, from a macro level of settlements, to the intermediate level of architecture, to the micro-level of materials’ details. It reveals the collection, reorganization and analysis method of color dates. Chapter 4 adopt the method of regional comparison.It compare laterally the five main types of traditional dwellings, achieving a deeper and broader understanding through researching the common and unique features of each type. Chapter 5 is the conclusion, illustrating the innovation,shortcomings as well as the possibilities of the future more in depth research.
