The Study On The Impact Of Urban Development Stage And Location On The Development Of Urban Underground Space

Based on the basis of statistical data from eight typical chinese cities at different stages and ten chinese and foreign typical urban regions, this paper presents a research on the development of urban underground space (UUS). Through site research, quantitative and comparative three methods, this paper mainly studies the dominant driving factors, scale, function and layout of the urban underground space development from macro to micro. This paper demonstrates that the different stage cities and urban regions coincide with the different model of the underground space development.The main contents and conclusions are as follows:(1) Firstly, this paper analyzes the impact of the three factors including GDP per kilometers, population density and the total vehicles on UUS use in the different stages cities. This paper also analyzes the impact of the four factors including GDP per kilometers, population density, land use type and the total vehicles on UUS use in the different urban regions. It is found that the total motor vehicles and urban population density are two important indicators of the UUS internal demand. The capacity of UUS increases linearly with the growth of GDP per square kilometers. Compared to the building volumetric fraction, the land use type plays a more significant role in affecting the development of UUS. Then this paper analyzes the proportion of four functions and layout in different study cases of UUS.(2) Based on the previous study of the influencing factors and function, the development of UUS can be divided into three stages. The modes of UUS use are different in different stages of urbanization. Then the scale, the four main functions including transportation, parking, commercial and utility, and the main factors are analyzed in different stages of UUS use. The study also reveals that the demand of different functions of UUS varies at different stages of development. Based on internal demand factors and external conditions factors, this paper puts forward a method for calculating the scale of UUS use. This method can be used to choose a reasonable UUS development mode based on their actual situations in different cities.(3) Through the comparative study of three cases including Xinjiekou, People’s Square and the Alexanderplatz, the paper draws two UUS use modes of Business Center and Green Square modes. The development modes of UUS are different in different types of city regions. Finally, the paper applies the results of theoretical research into the special underground space planning of Nanjing Unicorn Science and Technology Park. This article studies can provide a basis and reference for the development of UUS. The research is helpful to determine the area with a high potential, the priority function, the reasonable scale, the timing for the utilization of UUS in the different development stage of cities. It will contribute to the sustainable development of UUS, or avoid causing damage to other underground resources.
