Rail transit network in a city according to the different of the main service area, generally can be divided into subway network of the city center area and regional network of urban suburbs. The two network connection quality directly affect the whole city rail transit network ability, efficiency and service level of passengers. Taiyuan city is currently planning the subway network of city center area and regional network of urban suburbs. It is the best time to do the best of both. In this paper, the urban rail transit network planning of Taiyuan city as the engineering background, focusing on the connection mode between regional lines and subway line network. The main research results are as follows:(1) On the basis of the analysis of the connection mode between subway line network and the regional rail transit lines in London, New York, Paris, Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, the connection mode is summarized as two modes:transfixion and transfer. The transfer connection mode is divided into single point and multi point transfer. The advantages and disadvantages of the two modes are analyzed.(2) The connection of regional rail transit line between subway network is related to urban space form, rail transit network form and passenger flow demand. The urban space form affects the distribution of the passenger flow, the rail transit network form affects the location of the connection point. The choice of connection mode is related to passenger flow factor, operator factor and passenger factor. Through the analysis of these three aspects, the advantages and disadvantages of the two models choices are obtained.(3) The urban form of Taiyuan has the characteristic of band and cluster type, and the 7 rail transit lines are planned. The rail transit can be divided into two levels of regional and urban lines. The shape of line network is with the shape of the layout of the strip and checkerboard. The demand of passenger flow in urban periphery and city center area is strengthened continuously. Based on the analysis of four aspects of the urban space distribution, the function characteristic of the orbit, the rail transit network form and the demand of the passenger flow, put forward rail transit in Taiyuan take to transfer connection, transfixion connection model of cohesion as a supplement.(4) Taking Taiyuan rail transit line 6 and city center subway network as an example, the specific connection scheme is studied. Line 6 is connected with the city center line 1, 2,4,5. The author put forward two schemes:"line 6 and line 1 use transfixion connection, and other use transfer connection" and "line 6 and four lines are all using transfer connection". By comparison of the schemes, the optimal scheme is transfer connection mode.
