| Hangzhou West Lake is characterized by the spatial pattern of "three sides by rolling green hills and one side facing the city" and its landscape pattern of "Two Causeways and Three Islands" continues up to nine centuries of creation course, from Bai JuYi building up the "Bai Causeway" in Tang Dynasty to Ruan Yuan using dredging mud to build Ruan Gong Islet in Qing Dynasty. West lake natural landscape pattern is a collective creation of many artists in different dynasties, making it a unique landscape pattern changing the world.Firstly the paper traced the far-reaching influence of dredging projects for West Lake landscape pattern under the influence of a pool with three mountains model in China. The landscape pattern of the west lake was permeated by water conservancy dredging project. Investigations were taken for the landscape patterns of the two causeways and three islands, history evolution, status plant landscape characteristics and the embankment and island patterns were the product of nature with the functions of contacting transportation, dividing space and forming own sceneries. The paper researched Three Pools Mirroring the Moon focusing on spatial layout, water system, plant landscape, etc. Gardening techniques mainly include four aspects:reasonable division of the lake forming much wonderful scenery; Space layout with random strewn; integration of architectural beauty and natural beauty and fusion of poetic.Finally the paper further summarizes four characteristics of west lake landscape pattern construction, namely hydraulic dredging, literati’s gift; disjunctive space forming many sceneries; water diversion into the garden, island in the island; Plant landscape with random strewn. Considerations and Suggestions are put forward for modern urban lakes landscape pattern, overall planning and plant landscape. |
