The development of electrified railways is limited by technology of pantograph-catenary current collection. With the rapid development of electrified railway, more and more researchers have pay highly attention to the problem of pantograph-catenary current collection. Pantograph-catenary arcing phenomenon synthetically reflect the defect of pantograph-catenary, and it has positive effect on pantograph-catenary current collection under the optimized condition, conversely, it will reflect the disturbance degree of traction current, even, threaten train safety. Therefore, the research on and the on-line monitoring on pantograph-catenary current have important significance to the electrified railways.Through the analysis of the sunlight spectrum and the catenary arc spectrum, the paper design a pantograph-catenary arc detection device based on 250±10 nm ultraviolet light to monitor pantograph-catenary arcing on line, also, measure the traction speed, traction current, pressure between pantograph and catenary and so on.Precisely calibration of PCADD makes practical sense for pantograph-catenary protection and builds valid groundwork for detection of traction power system. In this paper, a platform is established to accurately calibrate pantograph-catenary arc detection device (PCADD). It is further utilized for calibrating spectral responsiveness (PR), measuring the minimum power density (MPD) and analyzing uncertainty based on the substitution method. By examining the experimental results, corresponding PR is obtained and MPD of PCADD from 250nm to 270nm band is also attained through combining methods of subdivision method and equivalent area. Moreover, the relationship among spectral responsiveness, MPD and filter transmittance is studied, it is discovered that MPD is smaller in the higher band of filter transmittance. Finally, experimental combination of the uncertainty achieves around 3.06% by calculating the experiments uncertainty.Based on ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD) and correlation coefficient, analysis of traction current, which EEMD is utilized to decompose traction current data, and correlation coefficient is used to select IMF in order to obtain characteristic quantity of traction current.Finally, based on experiment used the pantograph-catenary arc detection device on Guangzhou metro line two or three, obtained parameter data which is relation to traction,included in traction speed, traction current, pantograph-catenary arc and so on. Then the paper analysis feature of traction current and pantograph-catenary arc, the results showed that the traction current amplitude is regardless of arcing energy.
