In recent years, high-speed rail has a rapid development in China, with a substantial increase of the train speed, there are stricter requirements for the parts of the rail. As one of critical components of the train, transformer, its strength requirements should be guaranteed in the design. At the same time, in order to improve its economic efficiency, it has great significance to get a lightweight design. Based on leakage transformer of standard EMU, for the purpose of safety and reliability when the train is working, this paper has made a preliminary electromagnetic design, structural analysis and structural optimization of clamp.Based on the design criteria of common transformer, the parameters of the leakage transformer have been determined according to the technical specifications. A new program was proposed after the failure analysis of the broken clamp in the vibration test. After modeled by Pro/E software, it will be imported into HyperMesh for pre-treatment simulation analysis. Then the mesh model will be imported into Workbench for static analysis, modal analysis and random vibration analysis independently. As can be seen from the results, the maximum stress is less than the allowable stress, each mode is much higher than the frequency of the vehicle, so there will be no resonance, the overall structure meets the requirements. Meanwhile, it is optimization designed by the variables of several clamps’ thickness, the optimization results shows:the maximum stress after optimized is still less than the allowable stress value, which appears at the same place with before, there are little changes of the maximum displacement and each modal, The quality of clamp structure optimized have alleviated 11.16 percent, the effect of optimization is relatively obvious.
