Since the 21st century, our country has carried out a large number of infrastructure construction according to the needs of development, the artificial excavation engineering slopes have been constantly used in road construction, water conservancy project and foundation treatment, and other engineering projects by replacing the original natural slopes. Although the traditional slope protection technology such as plasma stone paving has good protective effect in the early stage of slope protection, as people have pay more and more attention to the protection of environmental resources and sustainable development, the use of it have been gradually deduced due to its serious damage to environment, lack of ecological benefits and poor durability. As a kind of ecological green compound ecological slope protection technology, three dimensional geonet grass ecological slope protection is now increasingly used in the engineering construction. Compared with the traditional grey slope protection technology, it has the advantage of convenient construction, low cost, good durability and so on.Three dimensional geonet slope protection technology mainly depends on the soil reinforcement from grass roots to achieve the effect of slope protection. In the late stage of protection, planting grass has grown completely and its roots soil fixation effect begin to play a role. Eventually the fully developed root plays an obvious role in controlling slope runoff scouring and resistance from the impact of the rain erosion. However in the early stage of three dimensional geonet protection technology, the plant roots have not yet fully developed and there are mainly three dimensional geonet covered on the surface of protective slope. In practical engineering project, the overall shear slide constantly appear in the layer of three dimensional geonet which leads to the failure of slope stability, and the failures always bring the failure of slope protection engineering project and huge economic losses.This paper firstly introduced the world-wide research status of three dimensional geonet, the slope stability and strength reduction method. And then analyzes the protection mechanism and its application of three dimensional geonet in project of soft soil subgrade reinforcement and slope protection. Make use of ABAQUS to establish three-dimensional finite element model of geonet protective slope project which is adopted from Jinan-Qingdao highway by combining theoretical analysis and numerical simulation method. Stability analysis is made by the method of coefficient of strength reduction, and under the same conditions, and get the result of the safety factor of different simulation conditions, plastic distribution, distribution of slope body parts’move as well as slope failure time under the same working condition by changing the influence parameters like rainfall intensity, rainfall duration. At last, verified the numerical simulation results of the slope stability through indoor simulation test.
