Asphalt concrete pavement has become the main structure of high grade pavement in our country, with its advantages such as no seams, good driving comfort, low noise and easy to repair. However, with the rapid development of Chinese economy, road traffic shows a variety of phenomena, such as common overload, serious traffic channelization, harsh construction environment and so on. Higher requirements for pavement performance and construction environment have been put forward, in which common asphalt concrete has shown some limitations. In this context, the research and application of modified asphalt are more and more extensive. As a kind of asphalt modifier, Sasobit can reduce the temperature of mixing and construction, and improve the pavement performance. In this paper, the technical performance of Sasobit has been studied from two aspects of asphalt test and mixture test.The experimental study of modified asphalt is divided into two aspects: conventional evaluation index and Superpave evaluation index And on the basis of this, the modification mechanism of Sasobit is discussed. The results show that: Sasobit can effectively improve the high temperature performance, temperature sensitivity and anti-aging performance of asphalt, reduce the 135℃ viscosity and improve the workability of asphalt, but at the same time it will have some adverse effects on the low temperature performance of asphalt. When the content of Sasobit reaches 3%, a high temperature grade of PG grade could be improved.Study on modified asphalt mixture mainly includes mix design, rutting test, water stability test, low temperature bending test and fatigue test. The results show that: Sasobit can improve rutting resistance in high temperature, water stability and fatigue performance of asphalt mixture, but is not conducive to the crack resistance of mixture in low temperature. Based on the above experimental results, the optimal dosage of Sasobit is 3%.At the end of this paper, the construction technology of Sasobit modified asphalt mixture is summarized, and the effect of energy saving and emission reduction is analyzed. The results show that: Sasobit can effectively reduce the mixing and construction temperature of asphalt mixture, significantly save energy, reduce the emission of waste gas and dust in the construction process, and has good economic benefits and environmental benefits.
