With the development of information technology in the modern society, the BIM technology has been widely used in the field of civil engineering. According to the research results of the BIM standard system framework of China Railway, most of the domestic and international BIM standards confine to the construction industry. Although the construction industry has used much BIM technology and tried to rule the BIM standards, but the application of BIM technology in the field of railway engineering has not much substantive development outcomes.Therefore, the application of BIM technology in railway engineering projects is the main direction of railway development in the future. Especially in the design stage, construction stage and maintenance stage, if the application of BIM technology can apply to these three stages, it will bring many advantages,for example in the railway design stage of the railway projects will be more rapid and accurate, in the construction stage can effectively shorten the construction period, in the maintenance stage can quickly and accurately to repair the management.The core of the application of BIM technology is the establishment of data standard. Only by establishing a unified model data standard of the railway engineering entity, the relevant departments can complete the task quickly and accurately in the design stage, construction stage and maintenance stage of the railway. Therefore, this article will establish a complete set of basic model classification and coding table to help the people who are responsible to complete the design of railway, railway construction, railway maintenance and repair.The main work is as follows:(1)According to the standard that the current engineering industry commonly used,like the IFC standard, the IFD standard, the IDM standard,the EBS standard, the WBS standard,according to these standards’basis and methods to establish the classification method and standard of the railway engineering entity model which are suitable for the railway design stage, construction stage and maintenance stage.(2)According to the relevant national standards and international standards, the complete encoding table establish for the solid foundation element model of Railway Engineering.(3) On the basis of the establishment of the classification table and the code table of the railway engineering entity base element model. Using the virtual railroad line selection design system;the BIM softwarefor REVIT,ARCHICAD,TEKLA;Dassault software platform;skyline terraexplorer software to test the railway engineering entity element model classification and coding, It was proved that the classification of the basic element model and the coding of Railway Engineering can be applied to the corresponding software system correctly and reasonably.
