The Research Of China High-Speed Railway Dining Car Interior Design

Since the reform and opening up, the urbanization level of China has improved dramatically. Many urban agglomerations appear. Higher demands of transportation infrastructure construction are needed. Developing high-speed railway can greatly improve the passenger transport capacity and improve China’s comprehensive transportation services from the overall capacity. As a public transport, high-speed trains connect the cities. Its dining car design which is related to the event about eating is very important. Excellent dining car interior environment design not only meets the guests’ need in basic functional requirements, but also gives people the joy of beauty. What’s more, it will become a platform to highlight the strength of our country’s design ability and national aesthetics.This paper is based on environmental psychology and the relationship between the dining car and passengers’ behavior and mental focusing on the Chinese high-speed train dining car interior design problems. On one hand, I studied the differences between our train and the developed countries. On the other hand, I studied the theory of environmental psychology and behavioristics. In the process of design, one should pay attention to the following tips:(1) The needs of passengers is the most important thing and should be put in the first place. (2) In order to meet the need of passengers’ behavior, the layout of dining car should be designed according to passengers’ law. (3) The interior design should adhere to the "people first" principle. All kinds of man-machine scales shall meet the dimensional requirements of ergonomics of Chinese people. (4) To make design better, one should take the travelers’ vision, hearing, smell and touch into consideration. (5) The reasonableness of materials, technology, cost and technological feasibility is important too. (6) Dining car interior environment design should be designed with the Chinese people’s aesthetic tendencies and national identity combination. We should make effort to design a dining car with our Chinese characteristics.In the practice part of this article, I started to analysis the Chinese high-speed train dining car with combining the design theory and the methods that are form the front part of the paper. In the end, I made a research on our new variable configuration EMU design and gave out a new design of its dining car.
