With the the application of 3D digital technology, The identification and extraction technology of the quality characteristics of product parts is gradually developing from the traditional 2D to 3D environment. Under normal circumstances, the identification and extraction of the quality characteristics extracts and transfers data through the IGES, STEP and other neutral documents or reconstruct the three-dimensional model and combines the feature recognition and tolerance matching technology, which causes the related quality characteristic information data is lost, the recognition process is tedious, and the extraction time is long in the process of transmitting. Model based definition is a new product digital definition technology, which represents a new development stage of computer aided design and manufacturing. The MBD information expression of parts model provides complete product information in three dimensional CAD environment, which makes extraction of quality characteristic information more efficient and convenient.This paper establishes MBD model taking the Wildfire4.0 Pro/E as the support software, and programming calls Pro/TOOLKIT tool functions for Pro/E secondary development in Visual Studio 2005 compiler software environment. In view of the problems existing in the identification and extraction of the quality characteristics of traditional parts, the paper combines with the MBD technology, and analyzes the correlation between explicit and implicit relationships and the quality characteristics of MBD data sets, then regards tolerance set, material and annotation information, reference and coordinate information as the components of the quality characteristics.When the MBD quality characteristic information representation model is established,full three-dimensional model of expression technology stores product information in the database by automatic identification and extraction technology in order to provide data support for inspection Planning. Finally, the reliability and validity of the research method are verified by an example.Research for automatic recognition and extraction technology of parts quality characteristics based on MBD can shorten the time of manufacturing enterprise quality inspection departments detecting products, and improve the working efficiency of the detection personnel, thereby reducing the work intensity of the inspection department.
