As a special hoisting and conveying machinery, cable crane has its own advantage at its level transport and vertical transport process of large span and remote distance. Because the loads brought to bear on the cable crane are often very huge in construction process, mechanical properties analysis for the structures is greatly necessary for assuring safety in construction. In this thesis, by using ANS YS which is a kind of large structure analysis software, finite element analysis is done for the portal cable crane of type LQ2000/200KN, which was employed in the construction process of steel truss arch of Nu river four lane bridge. The main contributions in the thesis can be shown in the following.(1) Using APDL parameter language of ANSYS, the three-dimensional finite element model of portal crane tower structure is established. Then several calculation cases are designed according to construction organization and load conditions. In the calculation cases, static analyses are done and the stress and displacement distributions of the tower structure are obtained. Finally, for the tower structure, both the influence of saddle’s position on the mechanical properties and the effects of wind loads on the deformation are analyzed.(2) The modal analysis of the tower structure is done and the dynamic characteristics of the tower structure are given, such as the natural frequency, the vibration response, etc.(3) The seismic response spectrum analysis of the tower structure is done. According to the specification,7 different seismic loads are designed. Then the seismic response spectrum analyses of the tower structure model are carry out under these frequent earthquake loads and the change laws of the structure response under different directions of earthquake are obtained. The results in the thesis not only provide safety for the construction of the Nu River four lane bridge, but also provide a useful reference to the structure design and engineering application for the same type of cable crane.
