In recent years, with the development of foundation engineering construction and the great importance attached to geological hazard treatment, laterally-loaded pile is coming into a more widespread use, while its testing method haven’t got due attention obviously lagging behind.This paper aims to research on a new method of static load test to meet the increasing test requirements for horizontal bearing capacity.Based on the engineering example of horizontal static load test, the numerical analysis method is adopted to simulate prototype horizontal static load test,researching on the effect of slope angle and pile spacing, according to the critical value of which the laterally loaded pile can be divided into two large categories:the first one is the slide-resistant pile of large space and embedded type for level section of road. The second one is the support pile and slide-resistant pile of small spacing for rugged and steep section of road. With slope angle smaller than influencing critical angle,piles,the interval of which is larger than influencing critical spacing, belong to the first category which can be used to conduct horizontal static load test with adjacent piles providing reaction force.Apart from the first category, the rest support piles and slide-resistant piles all belong to the second category, the reaction force structure of which can be divided into 3 kinds:horizontal ground treatment, horizontal vertical bearing pile and new reaction apparatus-bridging reaction steel beam between adjacent piles. Load and economic factors should be considered in choosing different reaction apparatus.Numerical analysis software can be used in horizontal foundation treatment to simulate the final settlement under the effect of different load, which could be obtained through layer-wise summation method as for horizontal vertical bearing pile. Reaction beam application should take into consideration the pile spacing between its reaction pile and test pile, the influencing critical spacing of which can be attained through simulation research of numerical analysis software.
