On the basic of researching the characteristics and working modes of hybrid electric vehicles, and analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of various vehicle control strategies, according to the requirements of hybrid electric vehicles’ functions,we propose a vehicle control strategies and control algorithms, which divides the vehicle working modes into four operating modes, such as driving forward, reversing,sliding and braking, transition and parking. It adjusts the power of the engine, ISG motor and drive motor depending on the power requirements of drivers and the power assembly status, so as to make the engine run in low emissions and high economic working conditions in most cases. When braking it uses the ISG motor to recover the braking energy. We build a hybrid electric vehicle control algorithms simulation platform in MATLAB / Simulink. We use stateflow states to realize the control algorithms in MATLAB / Simulink. The simulation results show that the vehicle control algorithm meets the design requirements.We design the hardware and software of the vehicle controller. The hardware circuits of vehicle controller include a main controller and the peripheral circuit modules, power module, switch input module, switch output module, relay control module, CAN bus communication module. The software of vehicle controller includes driver layer and application layer. We use CANoe to establish the hybrid vehicle CAN network simulation system and test the vehicle controller, the test results meet the design requirements of vehicle controller.
