With the development of the economy, the electricity is in short supply. At the same time, a large number of gases emitted by burning fossil fuels will cause acid rain, which can lead to serious environmental pollution. Therefore, all the countries in the world are trying to find highly efficient and non polluting renewable energy. Wind energy, as a kind of rich and clean renewable energy, has attracted more and more attention. In this paper, the design for the wind power project is located in Wuzhong, Ningxia. The total installed capacity of the project is 49.5MW. This paper is mainly around the foundation design of the wind power project, selection of the wind turbine generator and the design for the electrical system of the wind farm, and the comprehensive benefits are researched. The main’research contents are as follows:Wind energy resource situation of the Ningxia region, the selection of the wind power project site, wind farms connected to the grid and the advantages of vigorously developing wind power in Ningxia area are analyzed. On this basis, the basic design for the wind power project is completed.Combined with the actual situation of the local, four different types of wind turbines are proposed, and the characteristic parameters, the power generation and the cost of these four schemes are analyzed. The index system of the wind turbine evaluation system which includes the characteristic parameters index of the generator, the electrical index of the generator and the cost index of the generator is established. By using the grey correlation analysis method, a comprehensive evaluation is carried out on the combined schemes of the four types of wind turbine generators, and the wind turbine generator of WTGS1500A type is selected.The first electrical system of the wind farm is designed, which is mainly the design for the main electrical wiring of the wind turbine generator, the main electrical wiring of the booster substation, over voltage protection, grounding and lighting. The second electrical system of the wind farm is designed, which is mainly the design for the control, protection, measurement and signal of the wind farm and the booster substation.The comprehensive benefits of the wind power project are studied. On the one hand, a mathematical model is established from the perspective of low carbon efficiency of the wind power project. On the other hand, the negative influence of the wind power project in the process of construction and operation on environment is studied, and the quantitative analysis is carried out. At the same time, the economic benefit of the wind power project and the incentive policy of the country are studied. A mathematical model for the research of the comprehensive benefits is built and the calculation and analysis are carried out.
