The intelligent distribution transformer is one of the important contents of the distribution automation system. At the same time, it is also the requirement for improving power quality and ensuring the reliability of power supply. To be able to monitor all of the smart public distribution transformer, an automated monitoring system must be used. The object of this study is to propose an appropriate software, hardware design ideas and realization of the monitor system. This paper first reviews the research situation of the distribution network automation system and the intelligent terminal construction. Then the control module of the intelligent terminal is designed, including core control system, power supply, system clock, memory access and power measurement modules. In addition, the design of the functional system is proposed, including power data calculation method, reactive power compensation, intelligent protect switches module and switching value module. At last, the software design of the intelligent public monitoring system is described. The design framework of master station software is presented, including the communication between master station and terminal, and the database management software.Through a series of hardware designing, programming and debugging, the monitor system has been realized and applied in Huzhou power distribution network. After a period of operation, the basic requirement of the monitor system has been reached. By implementing this system, the management ability on Huzhou public power distribution transformer has been promoted.
