The traffic conflict increase serious because of the increased motor vehicle ownership, which was grew with our social economy. The intersection of urban road is the joint of road network, and the traffic flow with different character, mode and direction interweave and conflict in the intersection, which makes the operation efficiency lower and often have an accident, so the traffic channelization in intersection is very requisite and necessary in our country, and the turn right channelized intersection was put forward.Complexity model was lead up to analyze the concept and the influencing factors of the complexity. The complexity under the condition of control mode, space layout and the characteristics of traffic flow. Control mode and space layout affect the number of the conflict, the conflict probability was affect with the characteristics of traffic flow.On the basis of the complexity degree model, by calculating the conflict points and probabilities in the intersection with different control modes, different flow rate and different lanes, the corresponding complexity degree of turn right channelized intersection, special right turning intersection and ordinary intersection is obtained. And the intersections were chosen for further research by comparing the complexity.By the vehicle number and average speed of one cycle, the traffic efficiency were studied of the intersections which were chosen with different control modes, different flow rate and different lanes based on the VISSIM simulation and traffic efficiency model.Study the right turning curve lengths with the highest traffic efficiency under the condition of different flow rates by setting 25 groups of different right turning curve lengths. On this basis, the model between traffic efficiency and right turning curve length as well as the model between flow rate and right turning curve length are established, which provide the basis for the optimal design of right turning curve length.The control method of the selected intersection is studied when the traffic efficiency is highest under the condition of different flow rates through simulation of VISSIM and traffic efficiency models. The results show that when the flow rate is less than 200 veh/h, no controlling method makes the highest efficiency; When the flow rate is between 200 veh/h and 400 veh/h, the highest efficiency method is two phase controlling. When flow rate is more than 400 veh/h, the highest efficiency method is four phase controlling. The results provide theoretical basis for selecting control methods of intersections.The general principles of right turning channelized intersection managements were narrated. The managements and controlling direction of right turning channelized intersection were put forward on three aspects about signal controlling, the type of channelized island and the lanes organization.This study provide a certain reference value of spatial optimization and control management of right turning channelized intersections.
