Our country has many Landscape type cities with good nature conditions, where back to the mountain,facing the water. Because of the complexity of the landscape ecological environment and the scarcity of land resources, compare to Plain citythe planning and construction of the Landscape type city is facing more complex social, economic and ecological environment. Dali is a bright pearl on the plateau in the southwest of China. With the establishment of the status of the city center. The position of Dali city in the southwest of China is undergoing tremendous changes. In this paper, takes the build-up area of Erhai district of Dali city as the research object, analysis of the evolution of urban morphology and its driving forces. Using GIS spatial analysis technology, processing of TM remote sensing image of 1990,2001,2011 three time periods in Dali City.Extract the outline of Erhaiarea, where has been built up, and then calculate the area and the perimeter of the built-up area in different periods.Firstly, the shape and evolution characteristics of the Erhai built-up area are analyzed by using the compact degree, fractal dimension, shape index and landscape index.And then the dynamic process and the internal mechanism of the evolution of urban morphology of Dali city are analyzed by the method of the center of mass transfer and the moving window method.Finally using social and economic data to analyze the driving force of the evolution of urban morphology and structure in Dali city.The main conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)1990 to 2011 years, Dali City, Erhai City, a substantial increase in the built-up area, as of 2011, the built-up area of 139.7km2, but the expansion rate and expansion intensity at different time and there is no obvious law.The compactness of the urban construction of Dali city has been low, and is in a state of dec line. Fractal dimension between 1.603 and 1.444.Shape index increased from 21.13 in 1990 to 33.32 in 2011, and in 2001 it dropped to 23.81.Dali city is in a zonal distribution, which has experienced the process from centralized to decentralized to centralized, but the links between the various parts of the region is not very close.(2)Through mass transfer analysis of three time centroid overall shifts to the northeast, indicating a restricted by terrain obvious. On the other hand that Dali City, the city has a relatively clear control and Planning Department of the long-term development has a clear direction. The morphological changes of Dali city mainly concentrated in CangshanErhai south, East, north direction. And in the entire spatial structure, showing a two core(XiaguanGucheng), two patches(east of Erhai,Shuanglang), A strip(west of Erhai)with the characteristics of the area.(3)Based on the principal component analysis and stepwise regression analysis of the statistical data from 1990 to 2011 years in Dali City, the significant driving factors for the change of urban morphology were finally determined.Topography, economy and population, the topography of the city plays a restrictive role in the city, while the rapid economic development, the rapid increase in population promote the expansion of the use of land, mean whilepromote the evolution of urban morphology.
