With the development of industry society, human activities are impacting natural environment more and more, which leads to more and more serious problems, such as environmental pollution, resources shortage, et al. Facing the increasingly serious environmental issues, green design, that takes environmental impacts into consideration during the whole life cycle of products, is becoming more and more important. Because many facts of environmental impacts needs to be considered, the creativity and efficiency of green design must be affected. By revealing the innovative rules, TRIZ greatly improves the efficiency of innovative design and shortens the innovative design cycle. As a result, this paper researched green design and TRIZ, then proposed a green innovative design method. The main researching contents are as follows:(1) Study on ecological improvement design method based on conflicts resolving principles. With the development of era, the 39 original engineering parameters of TRIZ couldn’t describe all of engineering problems any more, but lots of researchers are still using them. On the basis of former studies, the correlate table of engineering parameters and eco-efficiency parameters was structured according to 48 TRIZ engineering parameters, and then a ecological improvement design method taking advantage of the correlate table and conflicts resolving principles of TRIZ was proposed.(2) Study on green design schemes evaluation method based on ideality. The history of applying ideality to evaluate technical systems was analyzed. Then, the evaluation index system for evaluating green design sch emes was constructed. At last, a green design schemes evaluation method based on ideality was presented.(3) Study on green innovative design method and process model driven by TRIZ tools. By analyzing the existed green innovative design process models, a green innovative design method including preliminary scheme developing process, ecological improvement designing process and schemes evaluating process was put forward, then a process model for the proposed method was constructed.(4) New type trash collecting equipment green innovative design. The proposed green innovative design method was used to design a new type trash collecting equipment. During the design process, 8 green innovative schemes were developed and a best one was selected from all the 8 sc hemes. The effectiveness and creativity of the proposed method was finally proved.
