Studies On The Evolution And Reform Of Living Modality Of Urban Village In Zhenjiang City

The urbanization process in China has been accelerated obviously after 1980s. With the rapid development of urbanization, varieties of urban problem have been emerged in the last decades. For China, urban village is a special phenomenon. Although the side-effect of the urban village becomes more and more severe, its contribution to the development of China city and its culture value should be admitted. Therefore, it deserves a rigorous, scientific, and respectful attitude for its inevitable reform.In this dissertation, the Zhenjiang City was chosen as the research object, and the living modality was determined as the breakthrough point. Combined the residential morphology, the science of human settlement, and architecture design, the systematic analysis and summary of urban village living modality were conducted to direct the reform. The dissertation consists of three sections based on the requisite theoretical accumulation.Firstly, the author investigated the population, area, and distribution of the Zhenjiang urban village by means of relative information collection and field survey. On the basis of the investigation, a rough classification was completed combined the specificity of Zhenjiang City. Meanwhile, the general situation of Zhenjiang urban village was achieved after hackle the development and reform in city construction of urban village.Secondly, the author summarized the history evolution process and its motivation by means of field survey, questionnaires, case study, and data analysis, taking Hejiawan, Chenjiawan, and Jiaowan village as examples. The status and character of substantial and non-substantial forms of living modality reflected the relative problem existing in these villages. The research of living modality in Zhenjiang urban village was accomplished systematically on the basis of sufficient data collection and analysis. The work can effectively guide the policymaker to present a new reform strategy.At this point, the conclusions are as follows:(1) The planning and management of Zhenjiang urban village is still at the primary stage, as well as the reform process. (2) The merging style urban village was majority, and was at the interaction period with city. So a timely and efficient reform was crucial and helpful for controlling the side-effect in an acceptable level. (3) Considering the dominant role of industry and mountain relief in Zhenjiang, some urban villages showed natural form, and specific design was preferential in reform process. (4) To improve the city image, the characteristic substantial and non-substantial forms of living modality of urban village in Zhenjiang should be emphasized.Lastly, the author presented a reform strategy with Zhenjiang characteristics under the direction of the science of human settlement after analyzing the hindrance produced in the process of living modality reform. Furthermore, considering the ubiquitous merging urban village in Zhenjiang, the reform design of Chenjiawan village was proposed.The design provided reference direction for the reform of living modality of urban village in Zhenjiang city,realized the significance of research to a certain extent.
